Gerald Webb is an Actor, Producer, Casting Director, Production Manager, Writer and DJ.
Gerald was born a performer. Always storytelling, joking, break dancing, rapping, acting and DJing.
Gerald set his sights on the Disc Jockey industry and took it by storm. In the 90's he earned an international reputation as a DJ and was named "the American DJ Association's 2004-2005 Night Club DJ of the Year." Pushing the technological edge of the industry he gained the attention of Pioneer, American Audio and Technics (Panasonic) who he became a national spokesman and endorser of. In addition to representing these companies Gerald consulted on the design of several top selling DJ products that are still on the market today.
His innovations in the Disc Jockey world led him to be named the "world's first turntablist" for creating the first method for DJ's to scratch a CD like a vinyl record.
In the late 90's he formed a friendship with the legendary hip hop icon Jam Master Jay (R.I.P.). Jay asked Gerald to appear in his upcoming instructional DJ DVD. After seeing the final product Warner Brothers Publications signed him to his own DVD series(DJ Styles series: The DJing with CDs) and book deal (The Digital DJ).
Jam Master Jay inspired Gerald to audition for a Showtime Network pilot "Espia". He read and landed his first acting role! And that was his first audition! That moment changed the direction of his career and life. He began seriously acting in the late 90's and in 2006 He decided to make the big leap and move to Los Angeles,Ca. where in just 12 yrs his carrer as an actor, producer and casting director has moved fast! He has well over 80 credits in hisIMBd (over 100 IMBd is behind) some including.....
His 80+ TV and film acting credits include: True Blood, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Franklin and Bash, CBS’ Intelligence, Comedy Central’s Workaholics, Fox’s Rake recurring on NBC’s Law and Order: Los Angeles, Sharknado 2, four Lifetime network films (A Snow Globe Christmas, Born Bad and Adopting Terror and Layover), and a dozen+ Syfy network films( Including my favorite: ZNation). His standout performances have been recognized with a Best Actor nomination at the 2013 Burbank International Film Festival for his performance in A House Is Not A Home, the 2011 Looney Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Syfy’s 2012: Ice Age, the 2011 Golden Cob Award for Best Rising Movie Actor for his performance in Syfy’s Battle of Los Angeles.
Gerald is partner at Deinstitutionalized Films & former Director of Talent at The Asylum.
In 2009, at the behest of a director friend, Gerald was ask to help cast a movie for The Asylum Film Studio (www.TheAsylum.cc). The producers of the film were so impressed with his casting and acting instincts they quickly hired him as their in-house casting director. In 2011 Gerald was promoted to the executive position as the Director of Talent for the studio responsible for all star name attachments and overseeing general casting for the studio’s 20+ films per year. In this position and in conjunction with his own company, Transformation Films, Gerald has attached the likes of: Tara Reid, Bill Duke, Ving Rhames, Mario Van Peebles, Danny Trejo, Dennis Haysbert, Ernie Hudson, Burt Reynolds, Nick Tuturro, Michael Beach, Carl Weathers, Sean Astin, Taryn Manning, Mark McGrath, Shannon Elizabeth, Marlee Matlin, Jamie Kennedy, Kelly Osbourne, Daymond John, Mark Cuban, Ne-Yo, Penn & Teller and a host of other star name talents to the studio’s films. He’s the casting guru behind the studio’s smash pop culture success Sharknado. In addition each of the 75+ movies G has overseen casting or attached star talent has been sold and distributed worldwide. Under Gerald’s guidance, The Asylum is receiving numerous accolades for its films diversity in casting. Proving that diversity can sell and can make money. Gerald is currently overseeing the series regular and guest star talent deals for the Asylum’s first television series, Z-Nation, distributed by Syfy Network..
In 2011 Gerald also began producing. His producing credits include Hamlet and Hutch with Burt Reynolds, On Angel’s Wings with Robin Givens, Reginald Veljohnson and Bill Cobbs, They Want Dick Dickster with Tim Russ, the pilot She’s Not My Sister directed by Kel Mitchell (Keenan and Kel Show), and the multiple award winning web series Silicon Assassin starring Battlestar Gallactica’s Richard Hatch. In 2012 Gerald partnered with director Christopher Ray to form DeInstitutionalized Films. The company’s first feature film A House Is Not A Home starring Gerald, Bill Cobbs, Eddie Steeples and Richard Grieco won Best Horror Feature at the 2013 Burbank International Film Festival and five Matchflick.com Flicker Awards including most anticipated Film and Best Horror Feature. DeInstitutionalized is currently in post production for the feature film Minutes To Midnight starring William Baldwin, Richard Grieco, Christopher Judge, Dominique Swain, and John Hennigan.
